Wolf's Box is a short film/sculpture project that combines the disciplines of sculpture and animation.
the Wolf's Box , I aimed to show the results of defending an idea with an ardent and fanatical attitudeto the audience, regardless of the way of thinking. During the design process, I wanted to create a surreal atmosphere by adding grotesque figures that I carved from wood into the box-shaped scenes that resemble Vanitas paintings. While constructing these places, I was inspired by the makeshift wooden architecture of poor villages. In this context, the film aims to be in Art-house patterns by transforming elements such as geographical and cultural characteristics and ethnicity into a design fantasy.
Labyrinth rat is an experimental stop-motion film produced for the Animal Gaze Project Exhibition curated by Ece Nada.
Labyrinth Rat tells the story of rats who are put to experiments in a labyrinth constructed by humans. Instead of telling the audience about the types of experiments in which rats are exploited today, the film chooses to see this through the perspective of the rats. From this perspective, the kinds of these experiments are traps made by humans for the rats. The labyrinth is full of traps set up to torture and/or kill rats. The film was inspired by Art Spiegelman’s famous Pulitzer-winning comic book Maus. In the book, which depicts the life of a Jew trying to survive in Nazi concentration camps, Nazis are drawn as rats and Jews as cats. The fable narrative style, which has a long history, uses animals as metaphors for humans. Labyrinth Rat, on the other hand, tries to explain what the rat actually sees/experiences.
It is Uğur Savaş's first short film using his sculptures, based on dreams and nightmares.
A man arrives home in a troubled state of mind, lies down on the couch to sleep. He can neither sleep nor can stay awake due distress-filled and anxious term he is having. His dreams are colorful, exciting and fantastic but depressing as well. He is confronting the isolated times of his childhood, desirous memories of his past relationship and maybe his deepest and darkest fears while his subconsciousness emerges.
